VESTA V. PEFLEY
Vesta V. Pefley, 89, 1700 S. Monroe, died in a local nursing home
Tuesday following a period of ill health. Services will be at 2
p.m. Thursday at Grace Mennonite Church with the Revs. Ted
Kuschel and Wilfred Ulrich officiating. Burial will be in
Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Ladusau-Evans Funeral
Home.
Born in April 1898 in Corbin, Kan., she came to Enid in 1902 and had lived here since. She married Lewis A. Pefley May 31, 1928, and he preceded her in death in 1969. She received her teacher's
degree from Emporia, Kan., and taught at Garfield and McKinley
schools.
She was a member of Grace Mennonite Church.
Survivors include a stepson, Don of Sand Springs, and two
stepgranchildren.
Memorials may be made tot he Grace Mennonite Church through the
church or funeral home.

LEWIS A. PEFLEY
Funeral services for Lewis A. Pefley, 76, 1700 S. Monroe, will be
at 2 p.m. Monday in the Central United Methodist Church with Rev.
Merle Pulver, Dr. R. G. Trent and Rev. Fred L. Johnson
officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery under
the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.
Pefley died early Saturday morning in a local hospital following
a brief illness.
He was a native of Kansas and came to Enid in 1928. He married
the former Vesta Heisel in Enid on May 31, 1928. He was a
carpenter but following his retirement had been employed at Vance
AFB. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Donald, Quartz
Hill, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Everett Cordell, Coffeyville, Kan.;
three brothers, Ova, Nedosha, Kan.; Ottie, Bartlesville; and Fred; Sparks, Nev.; four grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Rueb in May
of 1968.
